One big reason to choose a townhouse versus a condo is the living space. Many townhouses feature high ceilings, more bedrooms and bathrooms, a bigger living room and dining room, a den and recreation room; also a single garage, tandem garage or side by side garage. All these provide more living space and are most welcomed by growing families.

Most townhouses offer more than one level. For a 3-level townhouse, the main level usually offers a living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room and powder room; the upper level features 3 good sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms;  the basement contains a garage and attached by a yard. Family can perform daily activities in different zones.  

There are more cabinets and closets for storage.  Homeowners find it easier to organize and store their things.

Townhouses offer varied parking options: single garage, carport or open parking. The newer townhouses have a tandem garage                              (two cars parked end-to-end) or side by side garage.  

Fewer residents in a townhouse community than in a condo building.  There’ll be less traffic and noises but more privacy and quiet time.

The yard attached to the townhouse allows homeowners to enjoy more outdoor activities like barbecue, swings, sandboxes and gardening.  

Strata fees for townhouses are less than condos when compared by square footage of living area. The costs to repair & maintain townhouses are generally lower than condo buildings.
